Berita Harian Coverage: NYP Student’s Herbal Tea Bottle Design Chosen By TCM Company
She herself has never drunk herbal tea and does not really understand Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).
However, this did not stop Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP) Student, Nur Dini Fikriyah Amir, from taking up the challenge of contributing ideas for the design of ‘new generation’ herbal tea bottles that can attract the interest of young people.
Her bottle design was selected from 30 ideas submitted by her other classmates from the Visual Communication course at Nanyang Polytechnic School of Media & Design (NYP).
It is now used by Heng Foh Tong Medical Hall – a TCM shop that was established 64 years ago – as part of its efforts to inject freshness into herbal tea products and attract young people.
Before coming up with the idea for the design, Nur Dini had delved into various aspects of TCM and it took about 10 weeks to produce the design which combines minimalistic aspects and Chinese calligraphy.
“This task is quite challenging for me because of the lack of knowledge about TCM and the concept of herbal tea. I don’t think I ever drink herbal tea either.
“For that, I did a lot of research to learn more about traditional Chinese herbal tea and its health benefits,” said Ms. Nur Dini, who has now completed her studies in the Visual Communication course and is currently undergoing the NYP work and study program.
